Why do I need to verify my identity?

Spot makes it easy to open an account, but we still have to comply with laws.

We need to verify your SA green IDs, SA Smart IDs, SA driver's license or passports to make sure we give you the customer experience you deserve while reducing the risk of fraud. 

Your Spot account is regulated by South African banking laws. This means we need to do FICA (Financial Intelligence Centre Act) checks so we can confirm that you are who you say you are.
